I've already mentioned that I'm reading through the Bible right now. The plan I'm using isn't designed to take you through in one year. In fact, I'll get through parts of the Scriptures several times in the course of one year (Proverbs and Acts will be a nearly monthly occurrence).
Yesterday found me in 10 chapters and here were my observations:
Today's reading (day #3) was particularly fascinating and encouraging: Jesus arrives on the scene after John's announcement (Matt); God promises a deliverer to the very first sinners (Gen 3); all have sinned & only God can justify us (Rom 3); Paul is concerned about the tempter among God's people (1Thess 3); Job bemoans the consequences of sin (Job 3); the psalmist cries out to the God of his salvation (Psalm 3); wisdom is found only in God through complete trust in Him (Prov 3); the people of Israel finally enter the promised rest of God (Josh 3); sin has turned everything upside down & judgment comes (Isa 3); and God shows His power over sin & its consequences (Acts 3). Glorious!
The coherency of Scripture, the unity of The Book, the same-message-ness of the Bible is always a fascination to me. Those who tell me they've never made head-nor-tail of it, don't understand it or try to talk about all the contradictions in Scripture have never read it. Not all the way through. Or even in part.
Our God is One and His Word is His revelation of Himself.
