There have been so many events that seem to have taken place on a grand scale during this past year. The Boston Globe's photo journalistic site, The Big Picture, begins the ritual of year-ending reviews with these offerings:

I'm sure there will be many more of these year-ending reviews: top athletes, top news stories, top this, top that. I'll provide a look at some of them, but only as space and time permit. I'd encourage you to check out The Big Picture's site on a regular basis.
