Psalm 93
1 The LORD reigns; he is robed in majesty;
the LORD is robed; he has put on strength as his belt.
Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.
2 Your throne is established from of old;
you are from everlasting.
3 The floods have lifted up, O LORD,
the floods have lifted up their voice;
the floods lift up their roaring.
4 Mightier than the thunders of many waters,
mightier than the waves of the sea,
the LORD on high is mighty!
5 Your decrees are very trustworthy;
holiness befits your house,
O LORD, forevermore.
Storms can be quite frightening. I’ve been through a few in my day. However, when you know you’re in a place of safety, there can be something particularly fascinating about them. Tim Challies reported on this last Friday. Then, in his weekend “A la Carte” he included this video. I love a good lightning storm. This one, while appearing mild to some I’ve experienced growing up in Iowa, is quite dramatic as bolt after bolt strikes the CN Tower.

The above Psalm is a great comfort, whether in the midst of floods, hurricane (lots of people on the East Coast are affected currently), or lightning/thunderstorms. There are frightening, even life-threatening aspects to these events, but the Lord is the Creator and is mightier than them all.
