Well Done, My Good & Faithful Servant

All week long, I’ve been reminded of the upcoming 10th anniversary of September 11, 2001 and the attacks upon the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. I haven’t felt particularly moved by most, largely because I haven’t spent a great deal of time thinking about it…

…until I saw this video of the man who was to pilot American Airlines Flight 11, from Boston to Los Angeles.

These are some of the first tears I’ve shed since the days following that event. There have been a few tributes in between then and now that have caused me to well-up, but the testimony of this man was stunning. To recognize, with such force, the reality of a substitutionary death, as this pilot has done; to recognize the hand of God in all these events with, perhaps, the purpose of allowing you to continue to fulfill the purpose one has committed his life to; to recognize someone else’s time to be called home was in God’s hand and not yours––well, try and keep a dry eye at that. May God use this to strengthen your faith, grant repentance from lethargic faith, and to embolden your work and witness for Him.
